Here are some of the questions we have been asked:

Question: Is the sweep properly trained and not just a DIY sweep?
Our Answer: Shane Cummings of JC Chimney Sweeps is a professional chimney sweep, who has completed a City & Guilds accredited chimney sweeping course, and was also trained to National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) standards by his father, Jack Cummings. He has been trained on many aspects of chimney sweeping including open fires, wood/multi fuel burning stoves, AGA stoves, Rayburn range cookers and oil burning fires.

Question: Is the sweep properly insured for sweeping chimneys?
Our Answer: We are fully and comprehensively insured, including public liability insurance.

Question: Will the sweep make a good job of sweeping the chimney clean of any soot and build up of tar?
Our Answer: Shane uses power sweeping which is far more effective than traditional methods, and yet is much gentler on your flue. It is in the chimney sweep's best interest to do a thorough job of cleaning as word of mouth is the best possible form of recommendation.

Question: What about the mess?
Our Answer: A professional is not only known by the quality of the job he or she does, but also by how clean the site is left. We remove all work related mess and do not leave any signs of dust behind. Disposable foot coverings will be worn while in a clients' household and discarded afterwards. We also use a special industrial vacuum cleaner to clear all ash and soot, and protective covers and sheets will be used.

Question: What about the cost?
Our Answer: The price we charge does not vary from job to job - the price given will be the one charged. There are no hidden charges. And, even though we are now offering power sweeping, our charges remain unchanged. You can read more about our charges.
